Oh, Oregon (Part 3)

Portland! We only had three days here, but they are enough to draw us back. I already want to return to visit loves and have a cigar puff and beer at McMenamin's.The weather is perfectly calm and the people are perfectly unique. This city a quilt stitched together with microbrew tap lines.

Though neither of us are rose enthusiasts we decided to check out the rose garden in Portland. Rumi was pretty excited about seeing it all with us, even smelling the flowers.

View of the city from the rose garden
Of course, we had to visit Voodoo Doughnut. Everyone knows its a must do, but what you don't know until you do is that its so freaking addicting!!!  I ate 5 doughnuts the first day. And before we left town on day three I made Rae swing back by so I could wait in line again to have my yeasty sugar fill for the road.

This Americano with cream was perfect, and I'm pretty sure made extra special for Rae (who was getting hit on by the barista. He was a hot barista too.)

The Portland Cream and the Old Dirty Bastard.

Clockwise from top: Old Fashioned Cake, Cotton Candy (better than it sounds!), Lemon Jelly Filled and Coco Puffs!

Headed to the Sunday market

Beer flight at McMenamin's Power Station Pub. Outside the pub is a dreamland of hidden bars, smokehouses, veggie gardens and spas.

We found he veggie garden and sat under the trellis in the mist.

leaving Portland, going West!
We didn't want to miss Cannon Beach, so we left Portland and drove straight West back toward the coast. One of the most gorgeous drives we have ever taken - completely surrounded by the tallest, greenest trees.

Cannon Beach! We were tempted to stay here...

Since we decided to get back to the coast we then would been to cross into Washington state through Astoria. A big bridge, which Rae does not particularly fancy. But we made it over, puke free.

(also, it didn't help Rae's gag reflex that the bridge was being worked on

Here we come Washington State!!!!
