sweet spring

each spring i am surprised at how blooming little buds capture my soul

i can't keep my hands off my canon when the sun sets on the dainty branches wearing their new silk scarves

hello sunshine

goodbye for now, golden grass

recuperating

i’m trying to recuperate after yesterday’s not-even-midweek-breakdown’ by distracting myself with new endeavors.

here’s what I’m looking forward to:

-photo project-
my friend leigh was telling me about a day project her friend did and i wanna try! it might be a bit different from the original, but here are the general details: from waking to bed time, take a photo every 30 minutes. no set up or posing, just the take photo wherever you’re at, whatever you’re doing.
wanna do it with me?  i wanna do it a week from this Saturday! (the 13th) then we can post the photos on the following Sunday!?

-reprocessing images-
when i look at my old photos i feel an odd emotional mix: half horrified at the quality, and half encouraged because i recognize that i have developed (and will hopefully continue). my raw image processing has changed drastically in the past year and i'm beginning to wonder if redoing some of my old photos from their raw files will help minimize that all too familiar portfolio shame. hopefully so! that is my plan...results to come soon!

-photo books- -
i rarely print my personal photos. and by rarely i mean i haven't printed any of my personal photos in....lets see....5 years?  its depressing! i love looking at my photos but they are all either on myspace, facebook or on a DVD archive buried in my "office."  i forget i have taken some of them until i delve into the mass of disks to retrieve a customer's images! how sad is that!?!
this one will take a little longer to work out since i have sooo many but i'll let you know how its coming along.

-baby photos-
i will (hopefully) be photographing a baby on sunday! its been so long since i have done a baby and i'm excited to try some things i've been thinking of lately. yay for squishy babies!

and here's a photo just because...

the end.

photo therapy

ggaaarrrrrr! so i thought this week would play out perfectly after such a good weekend. i mean, really all i gotta do is look forward to friday with high hopes and feel encouraged, right?  HA! well the high from the weekend bottomed out and its only tuesday.
now all the wonderful little weekend spoutings about enjoying life in the moment and learning to live with what you have (blah blah blah) crash right down on my furrowed brow.  "to hell with it!" i proclaim throughout the day (in my head, of course.)

(...well, ok, sometimes out loud too.)

my contempt for my office job, the fact that all my pants this week are way tighter than they were last week, preston is working tonight and not with me, i always hate my photos and everyone else's always look amazing, i wish i were a better writer and i wish i could paint....agghhhhhh!

the work day was finally over and as i got out of my car at home i saw them...tiny little birdie tracks. (yes, birdie.)  so i decided on photo therapy. its that one thing that almost always wipes that spoiled toddler expression off my face. i don't have to be around people or think about my stupid job or worry about what the cats are breaking in the next room...
its just me, the birds & the trees (since i'm usually drawn somewhere outside city limits on an old country road.)

of course, i forget that most country roads are dirt. but i turn down one anyway and of course immediately find something i just can't do without capturing. and so i ventured...

work pants hiked, poor taped fuji around my neck, and my (now muddy) sanuks.

it was pretty messy from alternating between mud & slush

but i was outside. i was delightfully cold. i was at home with myself, with the trees & snow.

now for some wine therapy.....
